Sanibel Island is one of a kind.
When Eric Pfeifer first moved to Sanibel in 2001, 60% of the lands were held in conservation, and by 2021 that figure has grown to 70%. This is a testimonial to how much Sanibel residents value keeping the balance between nature allowing humans to live in harmony with animals.
On any given day, it's common to see a wide variety of birds, mammals, fish, reptiles, and shells. Sanibel has one of the largest concentrations of dolphins. Bird Watchers "flock" to Sanibel and the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge to encounter thousands of resident and migrating birds. Sanibel's shelling is famous for being one Worlds' largest variety of mollusk species living in the surrounding waters. Protected lands continue to increase as property is actively acquired by preservation organizations and placed into land trusts.
To protect Sanibel from overdevelopment, the city has strict land use and development comprehensive plan to ensure that no building is taller than a palm tree. The tallest building will always be the Historic Lighthouse, and from a few miles offshore, Sanibel almost looks uninhabited as trees stand out on the horizon, not high-rise buildings. Fun Fact: In 2019 Eric Pfeifer, Broker-Owner of Pfeifer Realty Group was unanimously appointed by Sanibel's City Council as a Sanibel Planning Commissioner, an honor which speaks to the trust the community has in Pfeifer's character. Eric became Vice-Chair of the Sanibel Planning Commission in 2020 and hopes to Chair the Commission in the future.
Come see for yourself, why so many people wanting to move to Southwest Florida pick Sanibel Island when looking in Marco, Naples, Bonita, or Boca Grande.
